Frequently Asked Questions

We have gathered the most commonly asked questions to help you. If you need to discuss anything further or different, please contact us directly and we will be pleased to assist.

Where Are We?

Lleweni Parc Airfield, located near Denbigh in North Wales is the home of DriveAge10.
We are 10 minutes from the A55 expressway and approximately a 40 minute drive from the city of Chester.
Full address: Lleweni Parc Airfield, Mold Road, Denbigh LL16 4BN.

Are there toilets on site?

We have a ‘portaloo’ facility at our site. Comprehensive cleaning takes place in-between every driving session.

Are refreshments available?

Unfortunately, we have temporarily withdrawn refreshments; this due to Covid-19.
You are welcome to bring your own refreshments – responsibility with litter is appreciated.

Can I watch my young person driving?

You will be able to see some of the driving but due to the very large size of our driving centre, there will be times when the vehicle is out of sight.

Can I take photos?

You are permitted to take photographs of your own young driver, instructor and the vehicle. You are welcome to share your photographs online.

Can I take video?

Unfortunately, video from inside the vehicle is not permitted at this time.

Is the driving safe?

The training cars are fully dual controlled, maximum driving speed is 25mph. The driving instructors are licensed by the DVSA and have completed an enhanced DBS check. Our instructors are highly experienced.

What about Covid-19 and PPE?

We are continually reviewing the official guidance and implementing appropriate preventative measures as required. In the vehicle the instructor will wear a medical grade fabric face mask and same is provided for the young driver, as we actively encourage use of PPE when in close proximity.
We require that young drivers wear clothing which covers the full length of arms and legs and that footwear is the closed style i.e. not open style sandals.
We encourage you to make responsible decisions about other family members that may wish to attend as spectators, please follow current official recommendations about individuals that may be more at risk of Covid-19.

Is there a place I can watch from?

Unfortunately, our portacabin is temporarily unavailable, therefore please use your own vehicle for shelter from adverse weather.

Do I have to stay on site, or can I drop off and collect my young driver?

You will be required to ‘sign on’ for your young driver and once this is complete you can choose to leave the site if you wish; please speak to your host for local information.

I have a question about the specific needs of my young driver.

We are always happy to make a dream come true, please contact us to discuss in more detail.

Can I sit in the car with my young driver?

Unfortunately, this is not possible at the present time.

My young driver could be nervous, what if he/she refuses to do it?

Some young drivers have been very nervous, however through careful rapport building and agreement of boundaries, we have never had a refusal to participate. In the unlikely event that does happen, your booking may be transferred to a later date or another driver.

What time do we get there?

You will be emailed full joining instructions prior to the activity date, this will include your arrival time, the activity start time, duration, full address and written directions.

Is there a minimum driver height?

To drive independently and comfortably the driver should be a minimum height of 4’10’’. However, we allow people under this height to drive, the instructor and young driver will discuss and agree a method of team work to ensure that as much learning as possible takes place, whilst safe control of the vehicle is maintained at all times.

What about insurance?

We are fully insured for public indemnity and professional liability.

Is there a certificate?

Yes, we provide a certificate of achievement during a de-brief session, where we encourage the young driver to fully appreciate what he/she has achieved.

Can I book more than one young person?

You are now able to book a shared session online, remember that it is your responsibility to ensure that current Covid-19 regulations and recommendations are followed when making a booking.

Can I book 4x4 Off Road or DriveSkills?

Coming soon! These fun and educational activities are ready to go. Check the availability on ‘Book Amazing Activities’ page.

Do you do anything for adults?

Yes, we provide our services for people of any age and often with their own needs. For example, we have provided driving opportunities for a blind person, a person that had suffered a serious brain injury, people with epilepsy, heart conditions and many more. Please get in touch and we can discuss your individual needs.

How long are gift vouchers valid for?

For all new gift voucher purchases, we have extended the valid period from 12 to 24 months, this is due to Covid-19 and the uncertainties that exist at this time.
Gift vouchers for Steps or the Level courses are valid until the drivers 17th birthday.
